Position Title: Quality Coordinator

Status: Full-Time

Job Summary:

Coordinates the collection of data as assigned. Analyzes data and recommends improvement activities. When gaps and areas for improvement are identified during reviews and evaluations, the Coordinator will make recommendations on ways to improve programs or bring in corrections to existing procedures that will solve any problems uncovered.

Essential Functions:

  • Organizes the collection of data for assigned Quality Improvement activities. Reviews patient’s records concurrently and retrospectively to obtain necessary data for performance improvement indicators.
  • Functions as a quality improvement resource to hospital departments and staff.
  • Identifies and reports trends to the appropriate committee/designee for assessment and/or resolution.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of current regulatory standards and requirements of TJC, CMS. third party. RBHA’S, and the State of Arizona.
  • Ability to monitor and manage projects. Success fully capture metrics, statistics or other data from available sources.
  • Demonstrates the ability to complete a root cause analysis, near miss analysis and occurrence review, and determine the pertinent issues that were contributory to the event.
  • Demonstrates an ability to listen to team members and respond appropriately to the input from others.
  • When new regulations or standards are introduced, the Quality Coordinator will evaluate and review hospital practices to verify compliance with the regulatory guidelines.
  • When assigned, demonstrates the ability to function effectively as a team leader/facilitation that helps move team members to effective problem resolution.
  • Demonstrates the ability to keep teams focused and action oriented when in the role of leader/facilitator.
  • Effectively serves as a resource to staff, identifying learning needs of staff and promoting professional competencies.
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to exercise sound, independent judgment and decision making in the completion of assignments and duties.
  • Ability to gather and analyze/interpret data in a way that enables hospital leaders to come to useful conclusions that will aid the facility in performance improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Maintains a flexible, organized attitude and approach and ability to function under stressful situations.

Professional Requirements:

  • Completion of bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related field and three years’ experience in a behavioral health setting.
  • Knowledge of TJC Standards & CMS CoPs for acute care and behavioral health. Knowledge of Arizona rules and regulations.
  • Familiarity with the Arizona RBHA system.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Possesses service orientation qualities that complement the organization philosophy of customer service.
